Illinois Ornithological Society has merged with Illinois Audubon Society!

Your membership in our new organization will benefit you and the birds by providing
Membership will be managed through the IL Audubon Society (IAS).

Current IOS Members
  • When you click the link below to Join, you will be redirected to IAS’s website to renew your membership.
  • Current active IOS members have already been transferred to the IAS membership management platform.
  • Your annual membership due date, as well as your membership information are filed with IAS.
  • You will receive notification from IAS when it is time for your membership to renew.
New Members or Inactive IOS Members

Benefits of belonging to our organization include:

  • Receiving the Illinois Audubon quarterly journal documenting efforts to save the state’s wildlife and native habitats. Members will also receive periodic publications of Meadowlark, the quarterly journal of ornithology for professionals and amateurs containing articles about Illinois birds, birders, and birding locales, illustrations and photography, photo essays, technical research papers in ornithology, seasonal highlights, historical information, field notes and more.
  • Meeting, interacting with, and learning from birders around the state at events and field trips.
  • Supporting bird research and conservation through the Grants program.
  • Supporting the Illinois Ornithological Records Committee, which reviews records of rare bird sightings and maintains the official checklist of Illinois bird species.
  • Supporting the Illinois Young Birders.
  • Supporting Listers Corner, an annually updated list of Illinois birders’ life lists and more
  • Assist in collecting ornithological data for publication and permanent record.

Individual or Household / Basic membership This membership is for individuals or all people living at a single household, including eligible Illinois Young Birder participants. $25
Supporter / Steward Members seeking to provide a higher level of Society support / Members who wish to advance Illinois Audubon’s habitat preservation and education goals at a higher level $30-99
