In the best interest of everyone’s health and safety we will be cancelling the Night Sounds of the Prairie Marsh trip.
I will be in consultation with the IOS board and with trip leaders concerning any future field trips and provide information on any upcoming events.

Meet at 6:00pm in the parking area of the Karl Bartel Grasslands Land and Water Reserve. We will start the evening looking for Greater Prairie-Chickens, which typically lek, in the nearby prairie. Returning to the Bartel Land and Water Reserve, we will survey the area for rails and other nocturnally active birds. We will remain on the trails and stop periodically to conduct surveys of rails species. Please be prepared for wet and muddy trails, as some traverse low spots in the habit area. We will likely survey the area for a couple of hours. If you plan to spend the nightin Marion, a second day option could be coordinated for those interested. Options for day two might include Rend Lake or Lake Carlyle areas.
