Join Keith McMullen for a fun field trip through southern Illinois forests in search of some of the more difficult birds to locate in the northern part of our state. This field trip is an excellent opportunity for you to learn new areas in which to bird, “tune-up” your eyes and ears for the coming spring migration, and knock the dust off those hiking boots. Target species for this trip include Least Bittern, American Bittern, Eastern Whip-poor-will, Chuck-will’s-widow, Acadian Flycatcher, Prairie Warbler, Worm-eating Warbler, Kentucky Warbler, Louisiana Waterthrush, and Cerulean Warbler.

The field trip will be held Saturday, April 22nd and 23rd. You will be responsible for booking your own accommodations in Marion, Illinois for Friday and Saturday night (or as needed).

The Quality Inn & Suites and the Best Western Plus in Marion, Illinois will be our host hotels for this event. They are located side-by-side. Breakfast is included with your hotel charge. We will meet in the hotel lobby at the start of each day.
