11th Annual Gull Frolic
February 18th, 2012
The Gull Frolic is a great, once a year, opportunity to mingle with other birders at the yacht club at North Point Marina, watch and learn about gulls, and retreat to the warm building for food and socializing.
Bring your binoculars, scope and cold weather gear. Experts will be available to help ID gulls and answer questions. Typically a variety of gulls and other waterfowl make an appearance during this event. When you need a break from the outdoors, come inside the Winthrop Harbor Yacht Club for breakfast, coffee and lunch. There will also be presentations on gulls in the conference room (seating is limited). The speaker is not yet set, but will be announced shortly.
The $10 registration fee includes continental breakfast, lunch, including "Sea Gull" Stew, vegetarian chili, drinks and more. Coffee, tea and hot chocolate will be available all day. This fee will help defray facility expenses. Any surplus raised will go to the IOS Grant Program which provides money to researchers and projects that benefit Illinois birds and birding.
REGISTRATION: Pre-registration is required for the Frolic. Like last year, we are limiting attendance to 150 people, due to fire code regulations at the yacht club. Eric Secker will be handling registrations this year as the Gull Frolic Chair.
UPDATE - Registration is now closed, however we do get cancellations. If you would like to be put on the waiting list, please e-mail Eric.
SPONSORS: The Gull Frolic is hosted and sponsored by the Illinois Ornithological Society, with sponsorship help from many local bird clubs, organizations and individuals. If your organization or club is interested in sponsoring, please contact Eric. A few reserved spots are still available for sponsoring organizations.
